Sunday, October 13th, dawned bright and sunny as has every day of this entire trip except one afternoon on the way to San Fran. (Thank you Lord!)
April and I headed back to Phoenix where I hung out with all the kiddos and she and Bryan went out for breakfast at Matt's Big Breakfast in south Phoenix. In the early afternoon, mom and I had our trial makeup done by Sky, one of the bridesmaids, and then delivered 5 of mom's amazing classic cheesecakes to Aunt Kelly's where the family/friends barbeque (in lieu of a rehearsal dinner) was taking place. Kelly had strung outdoor lights under the patio and across the pool, had a keg of Blue Moon and oranges outside by the outdoor fireplace, round tables set up outside and indoors, wine and drinks in coolers, appies in various locations, and a dessert table set up. It looked AMAZING!
We helped out a little, but not much help was needed, and soon the relatives and friends began to arrive. It was such a blessing to be with family on this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, but with more relatives than would have been together if we were back home. Sarah looked fabulous in her vintage birdcage and white dress; Nate looked...well...like Nate, in his basketball shorts and navy collared shirt (wasn't he wearing that yesterday and the day before?). The flower girl added to his ensemble with a homemade paper tie and paper heart decoration...just lovely.
In addition to a delicious catered bbq meal and the cheesecakes plus other desserts for dessert, we were treated to a video of Nate and Sarah's proposal that had been filmed and put together by Olivia, Sarah's sister, and her boyfriend Jesse. Very romantic and adorable. After the party, we stayed at the hotel for Sarah's last night as a single woman! All the bridesmaids had arrived by this time and good chats and laughter were had by all.
